Intro

Sedikit penerangan: DS2 stands for..dear son no 2. Dia anak no. 3 daripada 4 adik beradik. Watak utama blog ni adalah DS2, nama2 lain yang akan muncul adalah DS1 (abang sulung), DD1 (kakak - anak no 2), DD2 (adik perempuan - anak no 4). DH stands for dear husband, ie bapa kepada DS1, DD1, DS2 & DD2 dan juga suami saya. Nama betul ahli keluarga tidak digunakan..segan kalau ada sedara/kawan baca..hehe

 

Salah satu soalan yang memang selalu keluar masa routine checkup anak..are you concerned with your child’s development?

Masa checkup umur 15 bulan, jawab yes.  DS2 masih belum bercakap.

Health nurse suggest follow-up session masa umur DS2 18 bulan. Tapi tak pergi sebab malas.

Masa tu tengah pregnant dengan DD2. Terpikir – aiseh camne nak jaga 2 budak kecik, sorang lom pandai cakap lagi ni. Pening la nanti.

So buat appointment dengan health nurse – masa tu tengah pregnant 8mos. DS2 umur 22 bulan. Nurse buat recommendation to contact Speech Pathologist.

Masa tu bulan 10, call speech pathologist..earliest appointment available is in January 16. But in the meantime kena buat hearing test dulu sebelom pergi jumpa speech pathologist. Sebabnya kadang2 budak2 yang selalu kena ear infection ada problem dengan hearing..sebab tu dia tak boleh repeat apa yang dia dengar – sebab dia tak dengar! Tapi rasanya DS2 takde hearing problem, sebab dia tak pernah kena ear infection. Lepastu dia boleh dengar bunyik tv, bunyi orang panggil dia, ok aje. Tapi pergi jugak la. Sebab nak kena eliminate hearing issues.  Nanti la buat separate post pasal hearing test..sebab macam panjang pulak nak tulis.

December 15, bersalin DD2. Ok DS2 still belom bercakap lagi.

Jan 16..first appointment dengan speech pathologist (Vanessa). Borak2, soalan biasa la yang keluar..what are your concerns, how is he communicating at the moment, bla bla bla. Mengikut kata Vanessa waiting list untuk one-to-one session sangat lama, boleh ambik masa setahun. But in the meantime kita enrol family you untuk 6 sessions of group therapy.

Feb16..bawak DD2 pergi breastfeeding clinic. Sebab DD2 berak kaler hijau. Masa checkup untuk DD2, mention about DS2. So buat appointment untuk health nurse jumpa DD2 & DS2 at the same time mid Feb.

Mid Feb16..jawab questionnaire untuk DS2..all areas fail. Health nurse recommend untuk buat appointment dengan child development services & occupational therapist. Macam biasa, ignore the advise.

Feb/Mar 16..join group therapy. 2 hour session, one session per week. Yang ni pun kang buat separate post lah. Tapi at the end of the 6^th session..facilitator untuk group therapy tu cakap..dia notice yang DS2 ada problem dengan other areas, bukan speech sahaja. Dia tanya, are you seeing anyone? Masa tu cakap belum, meant to ring child development services & OT. Pastu janji yang akan buat appointment.

Apr 16..call OT buat appointment. At the same time call jugak child development services, tapi pergi voicemail. Malas nak tinggalkan voicemail. Fill in some more questionnaire for OT..dapat buat 1^st appointment in May16.

May16..first appointment dengan Occupational Therapist (OT). Yang ni pun nanti la separate post.

July16..follow-up appointment dengan OT. 2 minggu lepas tu, dapat report dari OT. Semua area, result – poor, below average, poor, well below average.  Masa dapat result tu gelak aje la. Tapi at the end of the report dia tulis recommendation  - suruh pergi contact child development. Sebab dengan condition DS2, maybe eligible untuk buat full development assessment.

Lepas dapat OT report..contact child development. Kali ni dapat jugak voicemail..tapi instead of letak phone kali ni tinggalkan voicemail bagi nama & phone number.

A few days lepas tu someone from child development call & arrange untuk hantar questionnaire. Lepas isik & return, dorang call balik pastu cakap dorang akan present case DS2 dekat board meeting, tengok eligible tak untuk buat full assessment.  Next few days Wendy call cakap DS2 will be assessed, and the next available assessment date is end of Oct16..which is about 3 months waiting period. In the meantime Wendy nanti akan datang buat home visit in September, untuk tengok macam mana DS2 punya behaviour at home. Yang ni pun kang separate post.

Sept16..DS2 masih belum bercakap. Tapi dah ada progress. Sekarang dah boleh cakap baby..lepastu boleh cakap yeay & bah (for bye bye). OT call untuk buat follow up session.

Oct16..full development assessment. Starts at 9:30 finishes at 2pm. Yang ni kang separate post. The result: GDD, Speech Disorder & Inattentive and impulsive behaviour. Fully expected tapi tatau kenapa sedih sangat..

So blog ni dibuat untuk menceritakan sepanjang perjalanan DS2 untuk dia bercakap, dan mengembang selari dengan budak2 lain yang sama umur dengan dia. InsyaAllah he’ll get there..aminn
